SME Capital back acquisition of leading force in educational sport for children

SME Capital is thrilled to announce a £1.75m loan to support Progressive Sports with the acquisition of Get Active Sports.

Established in 2004, Get Active Sports provide exciting and engaging activities for children and are responsible for seeing 15,000 children through their activities every week, priding themselves in providing enriching experiences to schools and their local communities.

They deliver high quality PPA Cover, PE Tuition, Staff CPD, Extra Curricular Clubs, Breakfast & After School Childcare, Holiday Camps, Football Development, Apprenticeships, Fetes & Fundraising events and Parties to schools, parents & children across the UK.

Progressive Sports is one of the UK’s leading providers of physical education, school sport, physical activity and childcare. They’re passionate about inspiring and encouraging as many children as possible to create a lifelong commitment to being active.

Commenting on the deal, SME Capital Regional Director James Lowe said “This is a great complimentary acquisition by Progressive Sports which brings further expertise into supporting schools and communities to inspire and encourage children to be physically active. Under the leadership of Eddie and the broader management team, this acquisition further strengthens the groups growth journey.”

The transaction was led by James Lowe and Chris Collings, Regional Directors of SME Capital. HCR Law assisted SME Capital with the deal legal documentation with Herrington Carmichael acting on behalf of the Borrower.
